School of Life Sciences this year sticked to popularize the beauty of biology with micro-world show and specimens display and leave vein bookmark making.

At the entry hall, two lines of posters illustrating the basics of biology research first cross visitors’ eyes. Then, several stalls with different interactive games invited students of all grades with gifts and cards. One among them was organized by 2018 USTC iGEM (international genetically engineered machine competition) team, and the organizers prepared different levels of fast quiz on basic synthetic biology for different levels of kids. The post cards with beautiful pictures by microscopes they offered as prizes draw many kids.

On both sides of the hall there're laboratories exhibited more activities. The labs on the right prepared well-selected animal and plant specimens in line for visitors. 8 microscopes were ready for observation, each with a volunteer nearby assisting the use.

The most crowded room remained the one for leave vein bookmark marking. It served as a great parent-child activity with parents and children working together to make a satisfying bookmark. “I'm going to make 4 of these and hand them out to all my best friends,” a 10-year-old girl was working on her second bookmark, talking to his mother joyfully, “I bet they will be very happy!”
