Molecular biology & Genetics of USTC Ranks 1% on ESI
The new breakthroughs in the development of life sciences and medicine subjects in USTC resulted from the construction of first-class disciplines. Up to now, USTC owned 13 disciplines in the ESI discipline ranking; the other 12 ESI top 1% disciplines are Chemistry, Physics, Materials science, Engineering, Earth science, Biology and biochemistry, Computer science, and Environment science and ecology, Mathematics, Clinical medicine, Social sciences, Botany and zoology. Among them, five are mainly contributed by the Department of Life Sciences and Medicine.
The Molecular Biology & Genetics discipline is the core subject in biomedical disciplines, and its ranking 1% in ESI is a landmark. Data shows that multiple teams of Life Sciences department including structural biology, molecular biology, genomics, chemical biology, nano-biomaterials and medicine, reproductive and development, oncology, immunology, computational biology and bioinformatics, all contribute to citations, indicating an uprising trend of subject collaboration.
The top 1% ESI disciplines are generally regarded as high-level international disciplines. According to published data, the average citations of articles in this area is 19.86, showing strong influence. Life Science department will go on to promote integration among biology and medicine to steadily progress the development of a first-class discipline.
