Graduated from Anhui Medical College in 1985 with a Bachelor's degree

Work Experience:

1985–2015: Worked in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC as a Resident, Associate Chief Physician, Chief Physician, Professor, and Department Director

2015–2016: Department Director at Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery

2016–Present: Party Committee Member and Vice President at the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery

 

Academic Achievements and Impact

Dr. Sun has dedicated 36 years to clinical practice, teaching, and research in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, specializing in endoscopic skull base surgery, nasal and ocular surgery, ear microsurgery, and voice microsurgery. He was among the first in China to perform procedures such as middle ear microsurgery, laser stapedotomy for otosclerosis, cochlear implants, and laser microsurgery for laryngeal tumors. He is a leading expert in skull base surgery, with significant experience in procedures like endoscopic nasopharyngeal angiofibroma removal, endoscopic resection of fibrous dysplasia, endoscopic frontal sinus balloon dilation, and endoscopic skull base tumor removal and reconstruction, among others.

 

He has received funding for 10 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Anhui Provincial Natural Science Foundation, Education Department, and Provincial Health Commission. He has published over 150 papers, including 30 in SCI journals and more than 50 in core Chinese journals, authored 2 books, and co-authored 5 others. He has supervised 30 master's and 5 doctoral students. His projects have won the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2004, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2015, and 2020.
