ZHOU Congzhao

Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor. Studied in the Department of Biology at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) from 1987 to 2000, earning bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. From January 1999 to February 2000, he was a joint Ph.D. student at the IGM Institute, Université Paris-Sud, France. From 2000 to the end of 2003, he conducted postdoctoral research at the French National Centre for Scientific Research and the Structural Genomics Laboratory at Université Paris-Sud. In 2004, he was appointed as a professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the School of Life Sciences, USTC, and as a researcher at the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale. He served as the Associate Dean of the School of Life Sciences from 2009 to 2014, Director of Academic Affairs from 2014 to 2019, Assistant to the President and Provost of USTC since 2019, and Vice President since December 2021.

 

He has published over 100 research papers in journals such as Nature sub-journals, PNAS, EMBO Reports, NAR, JBC, and Structure. He received the Anhui Provincial Natural Science Second Prize in 1998 and the Sino-French Science and Technology Exchange Association Biotechnology Award in 2000. He served as an executive director of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from 2005 to 2016, Chairman of the Anhui Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology since 2014, Chinese representative to the FAOBMB since 2015, a guideline expert and member of the expert group for the Ministry of Science and Technology's major research program Protein Machines and Life Process Regulation since 2016, a guideline expert for Biomacromolecules and Microbiomes since 2020, and a member of the IUBMB Nomenclature Committee for Non-Enzyme Proteins since 2021.
