CHENG Liang

Personal Profile

PhD, Joint Special Research Fellow. Recipient of the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, reserve candidate for Academic and Technical Leaders of Anhui Province, and recipient of the First Prize of Science and Technology Award of Anhui Province (2/4). Dr. Chen received the PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He focuses on the functions and functional mechanisms of non-coding RNA in major diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. He previously served as a postdoctoral researcher and associate research fellow at the School of Basic Medicine, USTC. Since April 2023, he has been jointly appointed by the School of Life Sciences and Medicine at USTC and the Cardiovascular Research Institute of the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC. During this period, he has received and presided over projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, Anhui Provincial Natural Science Foundation, Anhui Provincial Universities Outstanding Youth Research Program, National Postdoctoral Science Foundation, USTC Youth Innovation Fund, and participated in the National Key R&D Programs by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. His major research findings were published in journals such as Nature Communications, PNAS, Trends in Biochemical Sciences, Oncogene, Genome Research, Cancer Letters. He was awarded the Outstanding Publication Research Award by the School of Life Sciences, USTC. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the Cardiovascular Branch of the Anhui Society of Pathophysiology, and a member of the Familial and Hereditary Tumors Branch of the Anhui Anti-Cancer Association.

 

Main Research Interests

1. Functions and functional mechanisms of non-coding RNAs (such as circular RNAs and long noncoding RNAs) in cancers and cardiovascular diseases.

2. Molecular mechanisms of noncoding RNAs in regulating tumor metastasis and drug resistance, drug screening.

3. Noncoding RNAs and external stress response regulation.

4. Circular RNA biogenesis, nuclear export regulation, and the physiopathological relevance.
